Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

For those of you who like to plan ahead.   The show at Weston Playhouse will be Saturday morning June 2. More on the time later on.

Our spring concert will be Monday, June 4 or June 11.   We will confirm the date later on.

The kindergartners are excited every morning about how much their bean plants have grown. The bean plants are a great choice because they come up quickly and grow almost overnight for the kids.

There are new lambs at Meadows Bee Farm.  The kids have been very excited about holding and caring for them.

Reminder from last week: On Thursday, April 26, Sally will start Walking, Running club. It will take place 3:00 to 4:00 pm on Thursdays. We will be walking mostly on dirt roads near the school, usually around two miles. Children who would like to participate need to have a signed permission slip, shoes appropriate for walking or running and clothes suitable for the weather. On hot days shorts and a t-shirt work well and a water bottle is a good idea. We are looking for parents who can walk or run with us. We often have a large group and extra supervision is important when we are on the road. On the Monday when we get back from vacation we will send a form home to sign whether you want your child to participate in walking and running club. .

This is a buildup to the kids Walkathon in June when most of them walk or run the two miles out to Alison Trowbridge’s and the two miles back in an hour and a half’s time. For the last two years we have kept track of how long it took them to walk or run four miles. Every child in Mr. Pj’s room has done the whole four miles the last two years, most of them running and doing it an average time of 80 minutes per child. Then they sit on the picnic table getting their wind back, eating popsicles.

Another reminder: On Saturday, April 21st, there is a free dinner at 5PM at the Townshend Town Hall.    Talent show from 6-8PM.   It is a fun time, especially when we are watching our own Windham kids participate. And on May 11th many of the ukulele players will be performing as the opening act for pizza night at the West Townshend Store.

Totally enjoy the upcoming vacation week…and keep in mind spring is here, just not in Windham yet.
