“Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

The kids continue to go to the Meadows Bee farm.   No one has come back unhappy yet. Most kids do not have farm animals at home or easy access to them, other than when we visit the Persa farm or the Retreat Farm in Brattleboro. This is a real hands on adventure for them, getting to milk a cow, pick up eggs, feed the chickens and ducks, and getting used to the smell and feel of a barn yard. Right now they are sugaring. There are so many sugaring operations nowadays that are reverse osmosis that many kids have no idea of how maple syrup was originally prepared boiled in a pan. This farm seems to have it all. Their greenhouse plants are started, another wonderful facet to the whole experience. Thank you Beth McDonald for organizing our young farmers program.

Students have become very active now that they are playing on the driveway, running, jumping, playing ball and tag.  Some of them end up eating most of their food at snack time, then they are hungry at lunch time. Ask your child if that has been happening to them. One solution is to send packaged fruit, cans of soup, cheese sticks, snack bars or yogurt with their names written on them and we will keep them in a private spot and feed them when they need them.

The school is having a Walk at Lunch Day and we have already received sunglasses for each child to wear. Because of vacation we will not be doing the walk until Wednesday, April 29th.   Parents are welcome to walk with us.

Thank you Lisa and Claudia for lunch today and our first annual Easter Egg Hunt.

It is Open Mic tonight at the Townshend Country Store. Come and join in. If enough Windham students show up we will sing some songs.
