Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

February vacation: next week, February 15th through 19th.

Tonight Friday, January 12th, there will be a music open mic at pizza night. Sally hopes Windham kids will attend to sing and/or play ukuleles. Sally will have her kids go first at 6:30, in case parents want to get their kids home early.  See you there.

This week’s art at the barn was: two rectangular blocks of clay. One to print their name on with stencils that were provided. The other block was to stencil the name of a plant they might grow this year at school or home. There were pieces of honeycomb, seashells, thistles, long threaded screws to make the extra designs with. What makes the afternoon interesting is watching the kids start out with the assignment and then diverge into designs of their own. Helena made several nice pieces that looked like hieroglyphics, Abe made domino blocks, Lillie and Mary cut their clay into squares and made pretty drawing designs. Jake and Carson and Jack seem to be leaning toward making mechanical designs. The perfect thing about clay is starting out, then if not happy with how it is coming along, just rolling it up and starting again.

Below is an invite for Valentine’s Day:

The Community Hope & Action group of Townshend is partnering with the Calvary Chapel this Valentine’s Day to put on an afternoon of cookie and cupcake decorating at Townshend Village Pizza. This cupcake swap was such a hit with local singles, couples and families last year, the group decided to host it again. Anyone is welcome to bring homemade cookies or cupcakes to decorate and trade with neighbors. Coffee and tea will be provided. The pizza shop is located at 2041 VT-30, Townshend, VT 05353 and the swap will be held from 4-6pm. This event is completely free; we hope to see you there!  Claudia passed along a note about the event.  Let people know that they do NOT have to bring cupcakes or cookies if they don't want too.  There will be plenty there for them to just decorate if they want

to just come.  I (church) am making about 75 cupcakes and a few batches of sugar cookies for decorating.

For parents who like to plan ahead: Mr. PJ’S fifth graders will be going to Keewaydin the week of May 2nd
