Windham Elementary School Newsletter

February 7,2014

Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

Next Friday, February 14, there will be a Valentine's Day Potluck and square dance at the Windham School. The potluck will be at 6:00 pm. Please bring a dish to share. The dance will be from 7:00 to 9:00. Sally Newton will teach and call the dances. Beginners are welcome. Live music will be provided by Sally, Michael and friends. There will be several breaks for cake walks, so bring quarters for a chance to win a cake. Anyone who can bake a cake, pie or batch of cookies to contribute to the “cake” walks , could be greatly appreciated.

Valentines/ Appreciations: Next week instead of asking each child to bring in valentines for everyone, we will be drawing names and making beautiful appreciation cards for each other. If there are children who wish to bring cards in from home, that is fine as long as they have one for each child in their class.

Claudia has offered to teach cake decorating to any studentthat would like to stay after school next Tuesday, the 11th. She will bake a small cake for each child (I will do GF for those that need it) and will bring all the supplies that they need to decorate their cake. They can take a cake home with them, or leave it at school for the cake walk on Friday. If you know that your child will be interested in this activity, please contact Claudia at 874-7026, so that there will be enough supplies for everyone. Parents are welcome to help supervise/assist, but not required. I (Lisa) will also be there to help out. This will start right after school lets out, and we should be done by 4.

Our newsletter needed to be done before we had the sliding/skating party at Kehoe's. We will have some fun news about that next week. Since the 100th day of school was this Friday the 7th, they were talking about keeping track of slides down the hill and maybe they will make 100. Thank you to Bob and Cindy Kehoe for hosting this event and to parents who sent in snacks.

Another article for next weeks newsletter is the different articles children brought in of 100. Maybe macaroni, buttons, etc. It will be a fun list to write about.

Concert and taco night at the West Townshend Country Store with Gene Morrison and the Kelly Stand. Taco night starts at 5pm. Music starts at 7pm.
