Windham Elementary School Newsletter January 23, 2015 “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”
Report cards will be sent home Monday. The district has all new Standards board report cards this year. Please read them carefully and feel free to call your child’s teacher if you have questions.
Sally was very pleased about the number of children that showed up at the Townshend Country Store for the Martin Luther King Jr. event. The kids talked about it as part of their long weekend off, getting together to sing, going upstairs to the thrift shop to buy items for themselves or their friends, with many of them ending up playing outside in the snow.
Outdoor sports were a success this week. Cross country skier’s went to Grafton Ponds. Sally is a great instructor for the new kids each year. Our kindergarten boy went home and announced: “I have found my life sport.” Years ago the school purchased the boots, poles and skis for everyone at school, and there should be several times during the winter when the kids will go out and ski here during lunch time. They may be out there just to enjoy themselves or looking for small animal tracks in the snow.
A time the kids look forward to is each Monday when they tell about their weekend. This is a time to tell what they did with their family, their friends, siblings, what movie they might have seen, or where they went skiing. They all get their chance.
Sally’s class has been writing some wonderful poems. Here are a few. More next week.
