Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

Zentangle/knitting will be every Thursday from 3:00 to 4:30. Children can stay after school for zentangle if they have a note from a parent. Otherwise we will be putting them on the bus. It is wonderful that Antje has made the time to teach us. Thank you Antje.

Next Friday, January 31there will be a kids concert with Sally Newton and Laura Molinelli at the West Townshend Country Store. Any Windham kids who come will be able to perform some songs with them. The kid's concert is 6:30 to 8:00. Make your own taco starts at 5:00.The kids have a few fun songs they have been practicing. It will be terrific if there is as big a turn out as last time. Tonight at the West Townshend Country Store is Make Your Own Taco night and open mic.

There will be a cake walk/potluck/contra dance at the school on Valentine's Day evening, Friday, February 14. This will be a community event, no fund raiser, just a evening of everyone having a nice time with their neighbors and friends. There will be more next week about time etc.

Skiing: Wednesday skiing was canceled due to cold weather. In the afternoon some kids did go out back cross country skiing for a short time. Several of the students did not get to go because when they got here in the morning and found out there would be no skiing that day they did not bring snow pants in. Since it is supposed to stay cold through next week, and we may not going skiing again, please have them bring their warm gear in and they can be included.

As a reward for earning so many beads for being Safe, Responsible, Respectful and Ready to Learn the staff has planned a sliding/skating party at the Kehoe's. There is no set date. We are waiting for more snow and may pop the date on everyone sort of quickly. Last year the sliding was excellent on the hill and the kids could switch back and forth between skating and sliding. So, in case you do not have sleds, this gives you time to beg, borrow or buy one. The skates we have here at school. It will be an afternoon party, and there will be hot chocolate and food.

Kids who don't have time to eat breakfast can bring something extra and eat at early morning recess. Some of the kids get to school and have not had time to eat breakfast, or have forgotten their snack or lunch. It is all right to send along non perishable foods, crackers, canned fruits, soups etc as extras for them to keep here in the kitchen. We will write their names on them and when they need extra food it will be here without having to make a parent come back to school.
