Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

Tonight, January 31, there will be a kids concert with Sally Newton and Laura Molinelli at the West Townshend Country Store. The kid's concert is 6:30 to 8:00. Laura Molinelli is a teacher at Jamaica School, so there should be other students singing too. Sounds like a fantastic time. Make your own taco starts at 5:00. Seating is limited. Sometimes the students wear their winter clothing and go outside in the snow between food and singing.

Zentangle/knitting will be every Thursday from 3:00 to 4:30. Children can stay after school for zentangle only if they have a note from a parent. Now that townspeople know about this, they are making plans to keep that time open. The more the merrier.

Next week on Thursday, skating and sliding at Kehoe's right after lunch. Rumor has a storm coming in on Wednesday, so the sliding should be perfect. We may only go sliding if there is too much snow on the pond. Bob Kehoe has been busy grooming the hill so it will be perfect. We are looking for juice and cookies from parents. We have the cups. Thanks.

The Parents Group is planning on having children' yoga at the school on Fridays, from 3:30 to 4:00, starting Friday, February 7. They are checking into a group rate from the instructor. The school has yoga mats that can be used. Call either Amy or Lisa if you are interested in your children doing yoga on Friday afternoons.

Reminder: There will be a cake walk/potluck/contra dance at the school on Valentine's Day evening, Friday, February 14. This will be a community event, an evening of fun with family, neighbors and friends. Next week, we will have the time in the newsletter.

Cross Country skiers had a great Wednesday at school. The snow was deeper up here than at Grafton Ponds. Sally took them skiing out back for an hour. They came back in and some of them made peanut butter cookies, and applesauce, while the others drew pictures on t-shirts. They had choice time while the cookies were in the oven, applesauce was bubbling on the stove. Then a snack and back outside before the bus came.

Next Wednesday is Demo Day at Stratton. It looks like we might get a winter storm that day. Even if school is called off, students can still go to the mountain. Have fun.

We are sending home the Leland and Gray Annual Report 2014 today with all the children. The vote is February 4, 2014 at L&G, andFebruary 5th at polling locations.
