“Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

Reminder for everyone: There is no school on Monday, the 19th and Tuesday the 20thMonday is Martin Luther King Day and Tuesday is In Service Day for the teachers.

Antje dropped us a reminder that based on widespread interest, she is happy to resume zentangle and perhaps even knitting on Thursdays from 3:15-4:30.  Everyone is welcome.

Hot lunch on Friday has resumed. Our Parent Group has some great cooks. A lot of us look forward to Friday lunch time.

Students were glad to see each other again after the holiday and were really brave about going outside during recess. What a cold week.  They are so well dressed and intent on playing with their friends they do not complain about the cold.

Skiing has started up again even though we have not had snow and it has been extremely cold. Mickey used the time at Stratton this week to get everyone signed up, groups assigned, getting them ready to get out on the mountain next week. Sally had a meeting so her cross country group stayed at school, playing outside for a while, then came inside and became absorbed in various fun activities. There was the kid’s kitchen area to play in, legos to build, drawing and books to make. Mrs. Kehoe brought a laundry basket full of wonderful games. The magnetic ones were a hit the whole afternoon. While all this was happening Mrs. Kehoe and Sam (our new student) were making up some pizzas. A cantaloupe, orange slices and carrots were consumed and later there were chocolate cookies.  Next week will be a regular week of skiing.

Our fourth graders will be part of a sample NAEP testing on March 4th.  NAEP trained staff will be coming to our school to administer the test.

Normally on Thursday mornings we have Library and PE.  We were scheduled to watch The Secret Garden at 9:15 Thursday morning and Ms. West agreed to flip her schedule and came in on Thursday afternoon. A very good day for all.

It’s poetry night tonight at the West Townshend Store. Sally’s class has been writing lots of great poems and are encouraged to participate,
