Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

Tonight (Friday) at the Farmer’s Market we will do the Maypole, weather permitting. There will also be some kids’ activities

Saturday, June 3rd the upper class students will be performing at the Weston Playhouse. Students got to watch a preview at school Wednesday morning. Your child should be at the Playhouse by 12:45 on Saturday, if they are performing.

The Spring Concert is Monday, June 5th at 6:30.  If parents want to bring fruit, cheese, or cookies we will provide the juice.

Tuesday’s hot lunch of shepherd’s pie was a hit. It was excellent and when it got to kids wanting third’s they had to run it by the teachers first. Each week more of the kids count on pizza on Friday and come in hungry.   Chris from West Townshend has got it down to cucumber slices which make a nice side veggie.

Move up day at Leland and Gray will be on June 7. Mr. PJ and the sixth graders will spend the entire day there.

The Walkathon date is set for Thursday, June 8 in the morning. This is their PE class for that day. We have sent home pledge forms so kids can start raising money for Heifer International. We will have popsicles for them when they get back.

Friday, June 9th.  We head to Springfield Rec for swimming. Back to school for pizza at lunchtime. Then the plan is to have a bicycle, scooter, and perhaps skateboard fun time out in the driveway. There will be a course set up for going safely up the driveway and back around to prevent confusion and accidents.  Kids will need to wear helmets

Wednesday, June 14th. Sally’s class will be going to Billings Farm.   She would like to make it a day with students and parents. They will participate in two programs, one about trees and the other about how horses and oxen were used in early times. She wants to leave school at 8:20 and return around 4PM. It will be a full day and she is looking for a couple of parents who can drive and act as chaperones at the museum and farm. Please let Sally know if you can help with this.

Field Day, Thursday, June 15thThere will be water games so the kids need a change of clothes or a bathing suit.

Graduation is Thursday, June 15th at 6:00

Friday, June 16th is singing at Valley Cares.

Last day of school is Monday, June 19.  Picnic at Hapgood Pond. This is always a half day. Unless it is really cold, it will be rain or shine.
