Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

For those parents that schedule trips or holidays ahead of time, as of now with all the snow days our last day of school will be Friday, June 16.  Six snow days so far.

Town Meeting is next Tuesday, March 7No school.  See you there. Voting for Act 46 will be there in a separate spot from the town meeting.

Check out the “Windham News and Notes” issue that should arrive in your mail this week. Several of the students have poems in there. Next issue we will try to send in  a different set of kids poems.

Both classrooms got a very good deal from the Vermont Learning Collaborative. The Collaborative decided to sell their collection of Science kits. Most of the kits originally cost $400. Their cost to us is $40. The kits have been well maintained and come with the teacher manual and all resources. Some examples are: Balls and Ramps, The Senses, Weather, Habitats, Sound, Circuits and Pathways, Discovering Density and so on.

The younger kids have been helping with sugaring at Meadows Bee Farm, collecting sap with enthusiasm. We may try and visit there some afternoon when they are boiling so we can learn about more of the process. We have 2 students who are sugaring at home so they are helping us learn about it.

“The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house. All that cold, cold, wet day.”
