Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

Skiing next Wednesday. The thought is that there will be skiing at Stratton, so there will be winter sports next week. If there is no snow at Grafton Ponds Sally thought she might take the cross country skiers on a hike instead. That will be decided on Tuesday and we will let parents know.

It is getting to be that time of year again, where the kids still need a jacket outside, but do not want to wear their winter one. Next week is supposed to have some pretty warm days for this time of the year. You might want to send them with a sweatshirt or light jacket they could wear on the warmer days. This is so much better than them throwing off their winter coat and being outside in just a shirt. If children want to play basketball or jump rope on the pavement they don’t need to wear boots but they do need some outside shoes.

All ukulele players should come on Tuesday next week. If you have a ukulele bring it, please. Practice will be from three to three thirty. Sally has an appointment at four on Thursday so there will be no practice that day.

Art at the Barn on Monday was another enjoyable experience. First of all, there are two very large square wooden tables with stools for each child. Each student sits in the same place each week. This week the clay that had been fired last week was waiting for them to check out. If they had any other clay pieces they wanted to finish and have fired they could do that. Or they could pick out either a round or square clay plate to paint. (Beautiful plates). If you were lucky enough to be there, you would see they do not rush right into anything. They take their time considering colors, what they will design and still they do not rush. They do a little bit, consider their work and do a little more. The teachers wander around helping and giving advice.

Lunch this week was delicious. We had a tasty hot pasta dish. Caesar salad with homemade Caesar dressing and clementine’s for dessert. Thanks to Andy from the West Townshend Café who cooked for us again.
