Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

Leigh Merinoff generously sent everyone a $5.00 coupon for the Townshend Farmers market. It is good for the purchase of bread, fruit, and veggies and expires on July 1, 2017. We are sending two home with each child. We did write their names on them, in case they lost or misplaced them.

The first farmers market in West Townshend is next Friday, May 26th, starting at 4PM. Along with lots of wonderful vendors there will be pizza, a Maypole Dance, and other activities for kids. There will be music by the Windham Ukulele kids and Sally, her husband and friends. Come and join the fun.

We have sent home a separate paper about not bringing toys or electronics to school. To the parents who get this newsletter by email, it will be sent along that way.

The bugs are really bad on the playground. If you want to send a bug spray with your child for them to use at recess or during walking/running that is fine.  Just make sure it is clearly marked with their name.

Several people in the community have found ticks on themselves.  We have told the kids no more playing in the high grass. Please remember to check for ticks every night.

We had some of next year’s kindergartners here on Thursday morning.  They were excited to come to school and by the end of the morning very comfortable being here. The older students were helpful and kind.

Last Thursday evening was a wonderful turnout.  Plenty, plenty of good food. After dinner each student read their page of the Windham History Project book. They feel so good about what they learned and wrote that they are happy to get up in front of everyone.  And of course when the dancing started there were plenty of kids who know how to square dance and are not too shy to get up there.

Saturday, JUNE 3rd the upper class students will be performing at the Weston Playhouse. They started writing the play this week and over the next four weeks they will be practicing.

Our Spring Concert will be Monday, June 5th at 6:30

Graduation is June 15th. Last day of school is Monday, June 19. This is always a half day.
