Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

Monday is Memorial Day. No school.

Our annual Walkathon will be held on Tuesday, June 4, between 1:00 and 3:00pm. This year we will be raising money for Heifer International, a well known organization that provides farm animals (and the training to care for them) to families in need all over the world. We are sending home the pledge forms today, so children can get started on raising some money. Helping others is an important experience for children to have. If each child raises $10.00 we will have enough to buy 7 flocks of chicks or a milking goat and 2 flocks of chicks for poor families in Africa, Asia, South America or the USA. Thanks for your support of this effort.

VINS Field Trip Change: The Primary class will be going on an all day trip to the Vt. Institute of Natural Science on Monday, June 10, instead of next Wednesday. We can't go on the 29th as our chicks are due to hatch on that day. Preschoolers are invited to come to VINS. We will be leaving the school at 8:15 and will return around 3:00. Please let us know if you can help us with driving, and if your preschoolers plans to come with us. Thanks.

Monday, June 3rd we will be swimming at the Springfield Recreation Center. This is a a reward for earning over 4000 beads this year, for being responsible, respectful, safe and ready to learn . We will be traveling by bus. There is a nice kiddy pool for the little ones and the big pool for the swimmers. Preschoolers are included in this trip and parents are welcome to come. We will have hot fudge sundaes for everyone when we get back.

On Tuesday, June 4 from 8:30 to 10:30 we will be having Step Up Day. Children will be spending the first part of the morning in next year's class. Any preschoolers and kindergartners who are not at the Windham School this year, but are planning to come are invited to come. Bring a snack.

Mr. PJ’s class has been working with Alisa Hauser from the Weston Playhouse’s Early Stages Program. She is an experienced actress that has been on Broadway as part of three different productions. She began in early May and will continue with them until their performance date at the Weston Playhouse on June 9th. The students have been writing, staging, and will perform original monologues and play-lets created by them over the six weeks Alisa is here. The written pieces that they created were inspired by Judith Viorst’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. In addition, they will sing, dance, and perform a song from the musical. The students invite everyone to join them for their performance on June 9th in Weston at the Playhouse.
