Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

The first farmers market in West Townshend is this Friday, May 26th, starting at 4PM. There will be vendors and pizza. Music will be by the Windham Ukulele kids and Sally, her husband and friends. Come and join the fun. The Maypole and other outdoor activities have been postponed till next Friday, June 2nd. Today we sent home with each student an envelope with two tickets for the Townshend Farmers Market. There are two tickets for each student that can be used from May 26th to July 1st.

Monday, May 29 is a holiday.

On Wednesday the students replaced the flags at the cemetery in honor of Memorial Day and our fallen veterans.

June 1st and 2nd the sixth grade class will be on their class trip to New York City.

Saturday, June 3rd the upper class students will be performing at the Weston Playhouse. They practice here every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:00 to noon.

Our Spring Concert will be Monday, June 5th at 6:30

Move up day at Leland and Gray will be on June 7. Mr. PJ and the sixth graders will spend the entire day there.

The Walkathon date has been tentatively been set for June 8 after lunch. This is their PE class for that day. We are sending home pledge forms so kids can start raising money for Heifer International.

Friday, June 9th.  Over two thousand beads have accumulated by the children as a reward for being Safe, Responsible, Respectful and Ready to Learn. Their reward is going by bus to the Springfield Recreation Center for swimming. Back to school for pizza at lunchtime. Then the plan is to have a bicycle, scooter, and perhaps skateboard fun time out in the driveway. There will be a course set up for going safely up the driveway and back around to prevent confusion and accidents.

Wednesday, June 14th. Sally’s class will be going to Billings Farm.   She would like to make it a day with students and parents. They will participate in two programs, one about trees and the other about how horses and oxen were used in early times. She wants to leave school at 8:20 and return around 4PM. It will be a full day and we are looking for a couple of parents who can drive and act as chaperones at the museum and farm. Please let Sally know if you can help with this.

Field Day in the afternoon at school on Thursday, June 15th.

Graduation is Thursday, June 15th at 6:00

Friday, June 16th is a tentative date for singing at Valley Cares.

Last day of school is Monday, June 19.  Picnic at Hapgood Pond. This is always a half day.
