Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

Put this date on your calendar: Next week on Thursday, May 11,we will be having an old fashioned potluck at 5:30, followed by a short exhibition of the students “Windham History Project.”  Immediately following we have a short time set aside for square dancing.   It should be fun to search books or the internet for old time recipes.  This is not exclusively for the school, bring friends, relatives, neighbors, and the more the merrier.

On Monday, the 8th, we will be going to the Brattleboro Art Museum to see the Glasstastic show and other current exhibits.  We are leaving by bus at 11:15, eating our packed lunches when we get there. Reminder: This means we will be coming up with the Leland and Gray kids, so south end kids will be getting home by 3:00 that day.

Lunch from The West Townshend Country Store continues to be very good.  Every Friday is pizza with a tossed salad.   This week on Tuesday, it was mac and cheese with sliced cucumbers and carrot sticks.

This past week for art on Monday the students bound covers onto their Windham History Project books. Only a few kids at a time could work on this.  Sally had collected around 15 different kinds of wild flowers. While they were waiting to bind a book, several children made flower books

On Thursday May 18, we are having a visiting day/ registration for next year’s kindergartners and any other children who will be entering the Windham Elementary School for the first time next year. We would love to have any new students join us for the morning on Thursday, May 18, at 8:30 am. Children will have the opportunity to see their classroom, meet their classmates and participate in some fun and interesting activities. Snack time is at ten, so they should bring a small morning snack.  After snack, they will go out for recess. You can pick them up at noon or they can stay for lunch and midday recess and you can pick them up at 1:00 pm.

Touch A Truck is at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital parking lot on Saturday, May 13, from 9:00 to 1:00 PM. $5 for ages 2-12, all others by donation.  $15 for families with 3+ children.

Our Spring Concert will be Monday, June 5th at 6:30
