Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

Mr. PJ will be at GLAM meeting on Friday, October 27.

This Saturday, the 14th is the Townshend Pumpkin Festival.

Parents: On Monday, 16th we will be going by car to the ceramic studio. We will return via the school bus, because Kord is coming up the hill at the approximate time we are leaving to come back to school. (This does not affect any of the drop off times).

Open House will be next Wednesday, October 18 at 6:30:  The event where you bring your child and they will show you their classroom, what they are doing for work this year and we may even get them to take home some of their extra shoes, clothes etc. We still have ceramics they made at the end of last year. This is not a conference time about your child. What you see and talk about that evening should help you decide what you would like to talk about at conferences the next day.

Thursday, October 19 will be a half day for Parent conferences. That afternoon will be for parent conferences.

Friday, October 20, is apple picking at Green Mountain Orchards. Anyone who would like to drive let us know.  It is a fun time. If you do want to go and are driving, we will need a copy of your automobile insurance and a copy of your license. We will be leaving around 11:30.

The West River Community Project is holding its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 21st from 2-5 pm. The Festival will take place behind the West Townshend Store and Cafe. Come join us for cider pressing, scarecrow building and other activities for kids. Pizza, baked in the outdoor oven, and other delicious food will be for sale. There will be live music and a chili cook off with great prizes. Some of our Farmers Market vendors will be there and we'll sell tickets and do the drawing for a raffle with prizes such as day passes to ski at Stratton and a night at the Grafton Inn. Don't miss the fun! The Windham ukulele kids will be playing there.  Sally will contact you to find out if your child will be playing.

The firemen were here for an hour and a half on Tuesday doing a presentation of the truck, showing a movie, there was a question and answer time, demonstrations of how they would enter the building, and last they went through various lifesaving procedures with the students. The students each had to stop, drop and roll. This is always with a follow up talk with their teachers in the classrooms.

If you had noticed we had scheduled taking the kindergartners to Grafton Nature this Friday.  We had to cancel because we were having our pictures taken the same day at the same time.
