Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

We are all very happy that a parent group has been formed and want to do anything we can to help support this initiative. It has been many years since we had such a positive group working for the benefit of our school and the children.  However, last night during the parent group some children went back into the classrooms and were reportedly jumping off desks.  Also, some materials from Sally’s classroom have been misplaced.  As a result, we would like to request that students not enter the classrooms after the teachers have left their classrooms.    One suggestion was to have the parents meeting in the library, while the children are supervised in the multi-purpose room.  In addition, it would be great if you could review with your children that the same rules apply after school hours that would apply during the school day. Hopefully, these meetings will continue to have such great attendance and many successful activities will be initiated.  Thank you for your understanding.---The Windham School Staff

Thursday, September 19 the Pre-K, K class will be going to the Grafton Nature Museum. There are five children. We already have two drivers, so we are all set.

For parents who plan ahead: School pictures will be on Monday, Nov. 4th at 11:00.

We are planning on apple picking, Wednesday, October 2nd at Green Mountain Orchards in Putney. Since we will be leaving at 11:30 in the morning and eating lunch there we will be counting on parents to help with the driving. Which brings up something else. I am sending home a request for a copy of your drivers license and automobile insurance attached to this weeks newsletter.

Open House on Wednesday night had a nice turnout. The weather was perfect and the kids had a wonderful time outside running in bare feet and just generally getting a chance to not obey the stricter rules of regular school recess.

Soccer practice is progressing along, although rather hot and humid. We have a group of dedicated parents, coaching the kids, donating and bringing food and drinks. The coach would appreciate it if parents could help get the kids laces tied and their shin guards on, getting them out onto the field quicker. We are happy to have several home schooled kids here on the team.

We finally have milk for the kids this week. I held off ordering, trying to get an idea of how much they eat and drink. It is a young group and I did not want to over order and have it go to waste. There is plenty of milk, and if you really do not want your child to have milk would you send us a note. We have told them that any time they want milk at lunch time, they are free to have milk.
