Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

Lisa Beshay will teach another cooking class for kids tonight at the Farmer’s Market in West Townshend. It begins at 5:30 and they will make fresh salsa and homemade tortillas. She is planning to teach a class next Friday night as well.

Mistake on last week’s date for the Windham Fire Department to come for Fire Prevention Week. They will be here on Wednesday,October 12th.

Making use of our great weather the kids went for a morning hike for PE at Townshend Dam Thursday. A little early for a spectacular foliage view, but a nice hike anyway. All the kids made it to the top without complaining, where they discovered a great view down the valley, a rare shag bark hickory tree and a huge ancient oak. They measured the circumference, which was 13 feet.

This exercise was following their first soccer game of the seasonWednesday at Jamaica. It was hot and sunny on the field. They played a great game. We did not win, but there was not a single player out there that was not putting their best effort into the game. Way to go kids, and thank you parents for the large cheering section.

The Kehoe’s treated us to fresh cider this week. This is the local drink that the kids will continuously line up for.  Thanks go out to the Kehoe’s.

For practice and at games Coach Perry requests that: Kids be at field by4:00 for each game with cleats and shin guards on.  Water bottles are a must. The cups of water are not working. They forget which one is theirs and it adds up to a lot of litter. They need a snack whether it is before they start playing or during the break. Perhaps pack them something extra for after school???

Iberdrola Renewables would like to invite Windham residents to a public meeting about the Stiles Brook Wind Project on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. The meeting will be held at the Windham School and will run from 6-8 p.m. During the meeting, Iberdrola Renewables representatives will have numerous informational stations set up to give residents the opportunity to ask questions about recent changes to the project footprint, community benefits package and the development of the Stiles Brook Wind Project.
