Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

TomorrowFriday is an in service day. No School.

Monday, the 30th is soccer practice right after school. Tuesday, October 1st is a home game against Wardsboro at 4:00 here at the school. Even though they lost against Jamaica, they played a good game. They are taller, stronger and more aware of what they need to do during the games.

Wednesday, October 2nd is apple picking day. We already have quite a few drivers, but do not have copies of license and insurance coverage. If we do not have them by Tuesday, we may have to reschedule the apple picking day. We can not take the bus. Lars has to be back to L&G early for the afternoon run to pick up the high school students. We will be leaving the school at11:30, having lunch at the picnic tables when we get there. From there is the hay ride, then getting wagons and bags and going to pick. Next is pressing cider and one yummy cider donut per student. We will leave to come back to the school by 2:00.

The older kids have finished MAPS testing. Primary kids will begin testing on Monday. Please make sure your child gets a good breakfast and a good nights sleep. This makes a big difference.

Salad day was a big success. The kale salad was good. Sally had the kids wash their hands real good and then massage the kale. This makes it more flavorful and tastier to eat. Thanks to donations and what was harvested from the garden, we had coleslaw, tossed salad with fresh tomatoes. There was gluten free bread for some and regular home made rolls for the rest of the students. Sliced eggs, deviled eggs from organic eggs, roasted red and white potatoes from the garden. There was mozzarella cheese for the tossed salad, sliced cheese as a side, tuna salad with fresh garden celery. Last and really tasty were carrot cookies made from our garden carrots.

Plans are still being made for the Parent Group Fall Fun Day on Saturday, October 5th.

Claudia will be in charge of the food table. Do not forget to cook up something yummy for her to sell. Call her at 874-7026 if you need info about anything. Jan Wyman and Stormy will be in charge of the yard sale table. I read a short article about a family that had an Estate Sale (sounds better than a tag sale). They set the price of hundreds of items at a dollar. Along with the big items sales, they made $500 on the dollar items. Clean out your closets, baskets, silver, books, curtains, shoes, clothes, toys, furniture. This is a great time to bring items that are good, but you have no use for anymore here to help make money for the parents group.

Lisa said to remind everyone that arts and crafts supplies are still needed, more raffle items and parent volunteers. They can call her at 802-258-1881. Thanks!

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the foliage.
