4 Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn”

Apple picking was a huge success. What more could you ask for then a sunny day, huge red apples to fill our bags, pressing cider, and drinking cider and munching down cider donuts.  We went to Green Mountain Orchards in Putney and for you people who do not know it, after Columbus Day weekend, their apples go to half price. There are always plenty of apples left to pick.

We have had a good response to the Parents Group menu for Friday lunches. Spaghetti will be the first meal next Friday, the 3rd. There will be carrots with ranch dressing and some sort of an apple dessert. The first week is free. Then after that there may be a charge of one dollar per week.

Soccer is the sport this fall. The kids are spread out all over the place. We have a younger team here. One of the Windham kids plays for Windham and Townshend, leaving here fifteen minutes before practice is over to rush down and play with Townshend. On the Townshend team are two Windham girls that signed up before we had a team up here. Two of the older boys play with Townshend and another one with Jamaica. Busy kids and parents. Confusing, huh…

Getting a note to us about where your kids are going after school or who they will be leaving with is working better. Parents, it is important to remember that when the kids stay after school while soccer practice is going on, there is no teacher here to watch out for them after 3:30. It is just the coaches and team out back and whoever might be here for parents until practice is over.

Picture Day is Wednesday, October 1.

In our Lost and Found: Someone left a small glass dish here that had eggs in it at our first day breakfast potluck. Someone else left a basket that had small muffins in it. They are here in our kitchen.

A note from Sally for parents of primary students. I made a mistake in the last note I sent home. I will be at a literacy workshop on October 6th and 7th, not next Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks to Jan and Gail Wyman we now have plenty of pillows for our loft.
