Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

School pictures will be taken by Geskus Studio this fall.  Friday, October 13th is the date.

Monday, October 9, will be a holiday for Columbus Day.

Thursday, October 19 will be a half day for Parent conferences.

Follow up on the monarch butterflies: We had six caterpillars that successfully made chrysalis.  After 14 days they started emerging. As of Tuesday, five have emerged and been released.

This has got to be one of the hottest and driest starts to the farm days for the students. Blissfully we have cool weather now.   On Thursday, with the help of extra drivers we went to help Meadows Bee Farm throw lighter bales of hay. It is great for the kids to see where the hay they feed to the animals comes from.

Sally’s kindergartners were out in the sun digging potatoes on Tuesday at the Persa Farm. Each child took home a bag of potatoes and we have some left here at the school that we will bake and have for lunch one day.

Ukulele classes are going well. The experienced players are learning some more challenging chords and song. The beginners are learning their first chords and songs with enthusiasm. We have several home schoolers who have joined the group.

Both of the Windham soccer teams are having a successful season.  They keep coming back and saying they won their games. Each year of playing is getting better. Thank you Perry for all the transportation to the games.   Saves parents an extra trip.

To any community members interested: The Windham Fire Department if having a CPR class at the school on Wednesday, November 1st at 6:00.  This is free.  Call Mike McLaine if you are interested. 875-1550.

Registration for JISP is from Sept. 18 to October 13.  Paperwork has been sent home.   Contact us if you have misplaced yours.
