April 2, 2021 Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”
Meadows Bee Farm Tuesday morning we visited Meadows Bee Farm to visit the 13 new baby lambs! The students were also able to feed the sheep grain, collect eggs from the chickens, feed cheese curds to the chickens & turkeys and help drop hay down from the hayloft. They even got to see one of the male peacocks showing off their plume of feathers. Before we left, each student was able to choose a peacock feather to bring home.
Last Day of School and Remote Days Starting the week we return from April vacation, there will be no remote Wednesday’s! We will return to a full five day school week till the end of the school year.
The last day of school will be Monday, June 14th and is a half-day to celebrate the end of a successful school year amidst a pandemic! Please mark your calendars, we will invite all students and families to join us on this special day at Hapgood Pond. Potluck lunch menu will be shared for everyone to sign up for items. Students will start their final day at Windham Elementary and then we will leave for Hapgood Pond at 9:30 AM. The event will last until 12:00 PM that day. Students can spend the rest of the afternoon at Hapgood with their families, or those that do not have families in attendance, school staff will bring them home. Anyone that has leads to a certified lifeguard that I can hire for this day, please let Sara Wunderle know.
Edgar May Health & Rec Center Monday afternoon we visited the Edgar May Health & Recreation center for an hour of free swim. The students were so excited to actually take an actual field trip that was outside of Windham! We even had a few students reach some of their goals while we were there. One learned to hold their breath underwater and kept increasing their time until we had to leave and another passed their deep water swimming test! We are looking into the possibility of working with Edgar May next school year and offering swimming lessons/free swim during the winter sports season for any students who would like to have that as an opportunity. Stay tuned!

Covid Protocol UPDATE- No changes in travel for Vermont residents unless you are fully vaccinated, then you may travel without quarantining (In just a month that will be most of us!!). We are asked not to travel out of state or even within the state except for essential purposes. On April 19th ANYONE may register for the vaccination. This is such good news. Just remember these are the dates to REGISTER, to actually receive the vaccination may be 2 weeks after the registration. Also, it depends on supply. Don’t forget you can register at the local Walgreens, too. The state will be opening more clinic sites throughout the state to meet the demand for the vaccination appointments. Other excellent news is that Gov. Scott believes we will be back to “normal” by July 4th!! ESSENTIAL TRAVEL PURPOSES ONLY: * Work * Personal safety * Medical care * Care of others (that includes ONLY the person providing the care-NOT other family members) * Parental shared custody * For food/beverage or medicine * To attend school if commuting * To perform work for businesses that are currently allowed to operate when necessary. PLEASE CONTINUE TO BE CAUTIOUS:
