Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

NEEDED: Swimming Trip Volunteers

As part of our Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports program (PBIS), the students have earned enough beads for showing one of the four main principles in action throughout a school day. The four guiding ideas are being safe, respectful, responsible and ready to learn. The students have reached a milestone in the number of beads they have received from the start of the school year and we have chosen to take a field trip to the Edgar May Health & Recreation Center in Springfield, VT for an hour of indoor swimming!

We will plan on leaving at 9 AM on Tuesday, December 21st, We will swim from 10-11 and then return back to school for lunch and afternoon PE classes.

If you are interested in volunteering to drive, please understand you need to have been cleared as a volunteer by the WCSU and Ms. Sara will need a copy of your driver's license and the page from your insurance company with the vehicle insured, duration of the policy and amount of each vehicle covered for. You need at least $300,000 worth of coverage.

Volunteers needed: Holiday Craft Day

On Wednesday, December 22nd, the students will make holiday crafts from 1-3 PM. If you would like to do a craft with the students, please contact Cindy Kehoe at 802-874-7028. There are usually at least seven tables set up with different crafts, and the kids go from table to table making small gifts for the upcoming holidays. Even if you do not have a craft, you can come in and help at the tables. Please be sure to let Cindy know the general idea of the craft you would like to do as well as what materials you are expecting the school to supply (ie Scissors, tape). All participating volunteer adults need to be masked during this event.

Gift Exchange
This year we are bringing back the Windham Elementary Gift Exchange. The students will be selecting names this Friday, December 3rd and bring the name home with them. The idea is to keep the name a secret until our gift exchange. If your student forgets who they have, Ms. Sara will keep a record of the name selection and can help. The gifts should be in the price range of $5 or less. We will plan on our gift exchange to happen on our half day of school (December 23rd) before break.
