Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

No School Monday & Tuesday

Monday and Tuesday of this upcoming week are inservice days and therefore no school for students. Wednesday is a “regular” JISP day, so students who signed up to go to Stratton will be going to the mountain. The next NON-Stratton JISP day is NEXT Wednesday, Feb 2nd.

Valentine’s Day Treats

The students have been asking if they can bring in Valentine’s for their classmates this school year. Unfortunately since the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is still very prevalent, we will have to ask that students NOT bring Valentine cards or candy to give to other students from home. We will still participate in our appreciation week leading up to Valentine’s Day here at school. During the week of Valentine’s Day, the students pick a name of another student each morning and by the end of the day an appreciation card is constructed to be given to the student they chose. The appreciation cards are a way to show thanks and appreciation for a kind gesture, words or friendship that they have shared with one another during the school year so far.

Thank You

We are thankful to Alexis Mialkowski for applying to a program that was donating free mittens to VT schools, and her application was selected! She dropped of an amazing donation of 13 pairs of gloves Thursday morning that we will use as back-ups when students gloves get wet or are forgotten at home

Mighty Acorns - Winter Animal Investigations

The K-1 students participated in the Might Acorn January program - Winter Animal Investigations - at the Grafton Nature Museum last Friday. The students learned about what animals are out exploring the winter season and what helps to keep them warm. We then learned a few songs before going out and exploring the snowy ground for some winter animal footprints! We learned we can identify animal tracks by how they walk: walkers, bounders, waddlers and  hoppers. Animal footprints that were identified included: red fox, mice, human, dogs and bird! Each student will bring home an animal track guide for them to use  and identify what animals are exploring around their homes during the winter.
