Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

The first day of Spring arrives Sunday and with that warmer temperatures will return gradually. Please continue to send your students in with snow gear (since we still have snow on the ground) and boots! Mud season will soon be upon us and if the playground remains wet we would like them to wear boots and change into their sneakers for school. Once the “mud season” passes, we can return to wearing sneakers to and from school and they can wear slippers during the class day. Hats and mittens are also important for the morning recess since temps are still chilly first thing in the morning.

Ms. Sara

A new opportunity has opened up for Ms. Sara for next school year and therefore will not be returning to Windham Elementary School for 2022-2023.  The news was shared at the board meeting Tuesday night and with the students Wednesday morning. Ms. Sara is sad to have to say goodbye, but is so thankful for the trust, love and support by all the staff, students, parents and community members during her time here at Windham. As many of you know, she came to us after leaving Circus Smirkus after 15 years. In the circus culture, you never say good-bye, but “see you down the road.” Ms. Sara looks forward to finishing the school year with the Windham students with lots of laughter, fun and continued learning to have them ready for their next teacher.

Montshire Museum Trip - Friday March 25th

Parent volunteers will be receiving information about our trip on Friday to Montshire Museum next week. Students should plan to wear their Team Kindness tie-dyed t-shirts on the trip as a way for the museum to identify us while we are walking around. We will depart the school at 8:45 AM to arrive in time for us to participate in a whole group science lesson about Rollaways. Using tubes and tunnels, students will explore force and motion to create large rollways. During the workshop, they will have many opportunities to problem solve, build and work with others to create interesting and exciting routes for their marble led by staff at the Montshire Museum. Students will then be grouped with each chaperone to be able to explore the museum and have lunch before we depart at 1:30 PM to be home in time for bus pick-up. The school will be covering the cost for this enrichment program.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
