Circus Day!
Troy Wunderle, from Wunderle’s Big Top Adventures, came to spend the whole day with us on Thursday. The students had access to all sorts of juggling, manipulative objects, and balance apparatus. It was a wonderful day had by both students and teachers! We look forward to having Troy return to Windham next school year!
Recess
With the warmer weather, we have been playing wiffle ball and soccer! We have all had a wonderful time learning and having fun!
Spring Fling June 1st - 4th
We are planning a Spring Fling dress-up week for the students in the first week of June. With Monday being the Memorial Day holiday, Mr. PJ and Ms. Sara thought it would be fun for the kids to have a fun week coming to school dressed up in a different theme each day. Participation is certainly not mandatory, but we hope that each student will want to participate. Below are the days and associated themed days:
Tuesday - June 1 - Crazy Hair Day
Wednesday - June 2 - Pajama Day
Thursday - June 3 - Inside Out and Backwards Day (clothing to be worn inside and/or backward)
Friday - June 4 - Color Day (pick one color and try to wear all clothing in that color)
Hero Project & Music Concert Performance Scheduled! Susan Haefner and the Windham Elementary Superheroes have been creating and acting their way towards their final performance of their Hero Project this month! Susan now comes to Windham Monday and Friday each week to prepare our Windham Superheroes for their performance debut. Please mark your calendars for May 28th at 11:00 AM. We are planning on having the performance inside, so if you are planning to attend, masks will be required. If you can please let Sara know if you plan to attend and how many in your family will be attending we can set chairs accordingly in the multi-purpose room. We plan on filming the performance for those that are unable to attend in person and will share the link once the video can be uploaded.
Following the Windham Superhero's performance, the Windham students with Ms. Sally as their accompanist will provide some musical fanfare as a finale to the morning. Songs, dances, and ukulele playing will all be demonstrated!
Hapgood Pond
June 14th is our final day of school. As a reminder, it will be a half-day and it will be spent at Hapgood Pond. We will plan on leaving the school at 9 AM and be at Hapgood Pond until 12:00 PM. We are hoping that all families can attend this end-of-year celebration. We would like to provide a potluck lunch for everyone attending.
Food and Beverage Item suggestions include:
Turkey Ham Cheese Hummus Wraps Mayo Mustard Chips Watermelon Carrot sticks Lettuce Pickles Apple Juice Lemonade Dessert Please RSVP to Ms. Sara - swunderle@windhamschool.org with the number of people in your family that are hoping to attend along with the item(s) you would like to contribute to the picnic.
Tinker Crates - Spinning Top Science This week’s Tinker Crate focused on the science of spinning and force. Students were introduced to the physics behind tops and other spinning objects. Given how much time they spend on that spinning merry-go-round outside, it was great for them to gain a better understanding of how spinning objects can defy gravity. Comparisons to a spinning figure skater and spinning a coin were shown in the booklet that came with the crate for real-life examples they can relate to.
Upcoming May/June Dates May 28 - Hero Project Presentation and Music Concert @ 11 AM - masks need to be worn May 31 - No School - Memorial Day June 1st-4th - Spring Fling Dress-up Day’s June 14 - Last Day of School (half-day) at Hapgood Pond June 15 - Playground Removal begins & School Board meeting at 6 PM via Zoom |
