Habits of Mind: “Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Ready to Learn”

Happy Thanksgiving

Mr. PJ, Ms. Sandy and myself wish you, your friends and families a very Happy Thanksgiving. We are so thankful for every one of you and your wonderful students and we look forward to seeing you all again on November 29th.

VTrans Picks Windham Elementary School!

Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM, one of the 250 full-size VTrans orange snow plows came driving into the WES driveway. The students were already out on the playground and were surprised to see a plow truck stopping at the school. As two of the district plow drivers climbed out of the plow truck, the students were told by Ms. Sara and Mr. PJ that their snowplow truck name was chosen to represent one of the orange snow plow trucks that will be keeping our roads safe this winter. The students' alliteration plow name they chose was: Slip Sliding Safety Service!

Tractor Parade

When: Sunday 12/12 starting at 4:00 PM

Where: We will line up at the North end of Burbee Pond Road (end closest to school)

Details: The parade will start at 4:00 PM and finish at the Meeting House. If all participants could be at Burbee Pond Road by 3:45 PM to line up that would be great. Vehicles can be tractor, truck, four wheeler, or side by side.  At the Meeting House we will do the tree lighting outside. Thank you Russ Cumming for finding a tree. Santa will arrive at the Meeting House equipped with gifts for all the children and a lump of coal for the adults. We will have hot cocoa, coffee, hot cider, and many treats that we hope our community can help donate.

Sign-ups: Please contact Crystal Corriveau if you want your child signed up to receive a gift from Santa, want to be included in the parade and/or are interested in helping organize this event. She can be reached at 802-579-5258 or

Macy’s Thanksgiving Balloons
The K-1 students have been learning about Thanksgiving and traditions this week. One of the projects was focusing on the inventor, Tony Sarg. Tony, a puppeteer, used the concept around a marionette puppet to design the concept around the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day balloons! Below are some sketches of the students' ideas for what balloons they would like to see in the parade in the future!

First Snow at WES of the season!
